Yesterday I was over at a friends and her cousin was visiting. They are both pretty heavy smokers and they were showing each other their new e-cigarettes. I am not a smoker but am always curious about, well everything. She started doing some research and found a rewards club for the Blu cig that she smokes. She thanked me for getting her to do that. The interesting part is while she was looking she found that the Blu E-Cig has a very interesting feature. If you are within 50 feet of another user the product displays a blue light. Only when it is near the charger does it do it. I commented that I could not believe that they were tracking you.
She said what do you mean, so I told her that if the thing lights up when another user is close then it has some type of transmitter in it, so it would also be used to track you, IT could easily know how often you use it and where. Nope no way not me, they are not shoving a transmitter up where ever.
I decided to do some research myself, I don’t want to bad mouth something I am not sure about. Anyway I found that Blu has a specific line that has this feature, it is not all of them.. Since the 80’s when the big thing was to quit smoking, it has been considered taboo to an extent and this is an attempt to bring smokers together and get rid of some of the bad stigma.
The way she was reading it, they were tracking everybody. I was thinking that was a good example of needing good research and being detail oriented so not get or spread the wrong idea.
So there is my 2 cents. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were tracking everyone.
